Great night in Nowra last night celebrating the achievements of the South Coast tourism industry. Six Eurobodalla-based businesses won awards and we’re feeling very proud. Here’s the details.
Gold, gold, gold for Eurobodalla
Eurobodalla has again come up trumps at the regional South Coast Tourism Awards, with local businesses tallying three gold, one silver and two bronze.
Batemans Bay’s Edgewater Gardens picked up a gold award for inclusive tourism and bronze for self-contained accommodation.
Batemans Bay-based State Forests of the South Coast was awarded gold in the general tourism services category, while Batemans Bay Manor won a joint gold award for its hosted accommodation.
The Eurobodalla River of Art won silver in the festival/events category, closely followed by Granite Town Festival’s Riverlight Dreaming, which won bronze.
The winners were announced last night at a gala dinner at Shellharbour’s HARS Museum.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes, who attended the dinner, congratulated Eurobodalla’s finalists in this year’s awards.
“It’s a great achievement for six local businesses to be shortlisted for the awards and I am proud Eurobodalla was so well represented among the winners,” she said.
“Tourism is a $2 billion a year industry for the South Coast and it is fantastic to see our local tourism operators getting recognition that is so greatly deserved.”
Meanwhile, the Unspoilt South Coast NSW cooperative campaign has again been selected as a finalist in the destination marketing category of the 2016 NSW Tourism Awards, after winning gold last year.
Region X - Unspoilt Experiences Batemans Bay has also been shortlisted in the ecotourism category.
The winners for the state awards will be announced at a gala event in Sydney on 24 November.
