Gallery Gets New Makeover and Name “The Gallery”, formally Wattlebark Gallery, located at the southern end of Mogo Village is now in its 18th year. The new name reflects a contemporary image and direction its members see the gallery heading. Managed successfully by the Batemans Bay Arts & Crafts Society, now known as Creative Arts Batemans Bay Inc. (CABBI), it has undergone a makeover to bring it up to date with changing trends. This unique gallery showcases the artwork of its members and exhibits an eclectic mix of paintings, sculpture, jewellery, gift cards, craft and woodwork. The Gallery is open 10am to 4pm seven days per week and also offers members, as well as the public, an opportunity to participate in many varied workshops throughout the year. These include tutoring in a variety of mediums such as mixed media, palette knife paintings using oils and acrylics, watercolour, inks, pastels and sculpture. Each month The Gallery showcases an Artist of the Month, and dedicates its two front walls to that featured artist. Gallery Co-ordinator Mrs Laureen Phillips said “When I enter The Gallery, I feel excited and proud seeing the quality and variety of work ranging from realism to abstraction that is achieved by our members. The gallery is bright and cheery with friendly faces at the desk.” Additionally The Gallery will participate in the upcoming Mogo Christmas shopping night that has been organised by the Mogo Chamber of Commerce on 18 December.
