“All the world’s a stage…” said Mr Shakespeare, and Eurobodalla’s beautiful Botanic Gardens will be the setting for Essential Theatre’s production of Much Ado About Nothing for one special night in January.

One of William Shakespeare’s best loved plays will be performed at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens on Saturday 21 January.
The outdoor picnic performance of Much Ado About Nothing is a first for the Gardens and will take place under the setting sun from 6pm.
The production is by Essential Theatre, a Victorian theatre company who are celebrating 15 years of bringing Shakespeare’s classic plays to outdoor venues around the country.
Much Ado About Nothing is the tale of two pairs of lovers, the people who want them to be together and the people who try to rip them apart.
Essential Theatre re-interprets classic texts for modern audiences, and this production of Much Ado About Nothing takes place in rural Australia in the mid-19th century, where “some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps”.
Council’s Coordinator of Arts and Culture Indi Carmichael encourages residents to join in the delight of the colourful and charming comedy.
“This promises to be a unique performance in a unique setting,” she said.
“We are very proud and excited to bring an event of this calibre to the Botanic Gardens for everyone to enjoy.”
Tickets are $35 each and available via the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens website http://erbg.org.au
The performance starts at 6pm and attendees are asked to bring their own blankets, food, wine and beverages and bags to take away their rubbish, as the Gardens is a no-bin zone. Insect repellent is advised.
The show will go on at an alternative location in the event of wet weather. Media Release
