Moruya looks terrific with its Christmas display. The Moruya Chamber of Commerce and Moruya Rotary have now put up their tinselled street light decorations and Moruya Lions have installed their Santas over the towns awnings and beyond to the Moruya Industrial area as part of their annual Santa campaign. The Merry Moruya Christmas Window Display Competition is going along well with good participation from local businesses and the town has a very festive mood. December 20 16 sees Rohan Gleeson and Tubby Harrison taking up the challenge of ensuring that Moruya’s Christmas Lights are installed in Vulcan Street for the 20th straight year. The Moruya community is grateful to these committed men and the other Chamber and Rotary members who assist in getting the much enjoyed displays powered up. Rohan Gleeson told the Beagle "The annual decorations are a joint project and the town looks terrific". On behalf of Rotary Moruya he wishes the community a very merry Christmas. Des Rose of the Moruya Lions Club was pleased to mention that the Moruya Santas can now be seen in at Jerramadra, Mogo and even as far afield as Batemans Bay. Lions Moruya have been installing the Christmas Santas each year to the Moruya business precinct as part of their annual fundraiser with all the proceeds being returned to the community. Installation is mainly by Lions members with the occasional assistance of local church groups who also benefit from the drive.
