National Comp – Local Winner

Local singer/songwriter/guitarist Sarah Cowan forgot she had entered the national Change The World With Your Song competition, so it was a complete surprise when she was contacted as overall winner.

The winning song, Western Greed Blues, is from the 5th sacred cow CD Misery. The song highlights the issue of modern day slavery - to quote one of the judging panel, " ... it makes you feel like a bastard for enjoying it ..."

The song will also be rerecorded for a compilation CD also featuring Melbourne's Nicky Bomba, and the folks have some fun ideas in the works for giving the song a further slant. Stay tuned for more on that.

First prize is a beautiful Aiersi custom-made guitar, which Sarah says has already inspired a new song; it also sports her initals in the headstock.

Sarah is front woman for 'sacred cow acoustic' and 'sacred cow electric' who have been playing a huge repertoire of original songs around NSW, Melbourne and country VIC for the last 20+ years. You can find many 'sacred cow' songs on Youtube and at www.sacredcowsongs.com

sacred cow will be playing at Cuppits Winery (acoustic) in Jan 2017.
