For the fourth time since inauguration Batemans Bay parkrun attracted more than 100 participants as the holiday season continues to roll in visitors to the Bay.
One of those was current female course record holder Kim Wilmshurst from Canberra. Kim produced an impressive sub 20 minute time on Saturday posting 19:57 and taking second spot overall. Kim now has two of only three sub 20 minute times recorded by athletes at this event, the other was recorded by local lady Rumer Williams. Lauren Evans was the second female home with another great time (21:32) in her 30th parkrun to date. Paula Hopley from Mount Barker ran 23:09 in her first Batemans Bay parkrun crossing the line as the third female.
Local male Neil Mackay was the first runner home in 19:30, followed by Oliver Spake (19:58) who runs regularly at Shellharbour parkrun. Gary Smith of Cobram who, like Oliver, was running for the first time in Batemans Bay, made the top three men in a time of 20:30.
parkrun continues to grow in Australia and proof of this was visible on Saturday with 11 runners running their first ever parkrun and 34 people ran in Batemans Bay for the first time.
Walkers and runners can register at www.parkrun.com.au where they can receive and print their unique barcode. Participants gather at 7:50am for the run briefing on Saturdays at Rotary Park near the Marina.
