This weekend volunteers from south coast NSW SES Units are participating in a Large Animal Rescue Operations training course at NSW RFS Mogo Training Centre.
Volunteers from Batemans Bay, Moruya, Eden and Bega have been exposed to controlled situations to learn the skills needed to rescue large domestic animals from dams, drains, creeks and other places where they may venture.
These skills protect the welfare of the large animals and provides skills to work alongside a Veterinarian to provide the best possible care. Participants also learn how to protect themselves and others in a potentially very dangerous situation.
NSW SES is equipped with equipment designed and specific for the use of Large Animal Rescue.
NSW SES are called to assist with the rescue of domestic animals as a part of their General Land Rescue responsibilities.
