Dear Beagle Editor, With Tuross Head's One Tree Point lookout and picnic area and precinct now looking rather smart after various recent upgrade projects there is no doubt that this area will be used be used a lot more by the community and by the visitors to the town. Tuross Head Marine Rescue recently had their Australia Day breakfast in the morning with hundreds attending and that afternoon the Tuross Head Fishing Club hosted a community BBQ for over seventy The location has become focal point for visiting bus tours, for walking groups, family groups, weddings and even wakes. It is the primary arrival point for visitors to the Tuross Main Beach that sees hundreds use the area each day over summer. Every time the question of having a public toilet is raised Council say that there is one behind the main beach accessed by a path behind the dunes or there is another at the Evans Road park. The toilets behind the dunes are due for replacement in a few years. Thanks to all the volunteers for giving these toilets a spruce up with paint before Christmas as they looked sh*thouse. And thanks to Council for providing the paint and brushes. Rather than totally knock down and then replace the toilets behind the dunes when their time comes why don't we begin the discussion of building a new toilet block. At the last Progress meeting that I attended the need for toilets was raised for the Memorial Gardens as well. Council staff said that there were toilets at Coila and at the shops. We need to stop thinking about huge expensive toilet blocks. The model they now have at North Head camping area of single toilets is practical and lot more affordable as well as effective in reducing vandalism I think it is perhaps time to start a discussion about the need for public toilets at One Tree and what the Council intends to do about the old toilet blocks at Main Beach and Coila Beach. Maybe the Tuross Head Progress Association could follow this up and seek out community opinion. Your thoughts? Max Castle Tuross Head
