Nominations open for Dargues Gold Mine Community Consultative Committee.

Want to contribute to your community?

Nominations are open for members to the Dargues Gold Mine Community Consultative Committee.

The Mine is located at Majors Creek in southern NSW, about 13km south of Braidwood. The project received approval from NSW authorities in 2016 and is currently awaiting Commonwealth approval.

The Community Consultative Committee provides a forum for open dialogue between the proponent and representatives of the local community, stakeholder groups and local councils on issues directly relating to the project.

We are looking for people who live locally or are members of a stakeholder group (community, environment, Aboriginal or industry) and representatives from a local environmental group. Vacancies on the CCC consist of one community member, one environmental group representative and two alternate members.

Your role as a committee member is voluntary.

You will be expected to contribute constructively to committee discussions, attend around four meetings a year, and communicate information about the Mine between the committee and the broader community.

For more information and a nomination form, contact Hannah Bubb on 02 9387 2600 or darguesccc@elton.com.au.

Applications must be lodged by 24 March and sent to the independent chairperson of the CCC, Brian Elton at darguesccc@elton.com.au or PO Box 1488, Bondi Junction 1355.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
