Nelligen-Runnyford Road & Runnyford bridge replacement

For those residents of the area who have enquired about the future of this road, Eurobodalla Shire Council have recently advised: "Runnyford Road is a low key unsealed road, which typically carries a very low volume of traffic. During closures of the Kings Highway, we actively discourage promotion of use of this road as an alternate route. Council is replacing the old timber bridge at Runnyford. The replacement structure will be a new timber bridge. The cost of a new concrete structure cannot be justified given the very low traffic volumes using this road and the length of the bridge.

The road will be closed during the construction of the new bridge. The closure will be appropriately signposted. Works on the bridge replacement will commence this financial year, subject to the necessary NSW Government permits being obtained. The busier section of Runnyford Road is graded twice per year (Mogo end). The lower trafficked section of the road is graded once per year (Nelligen end) with the next grade due in 2017-18. Our grading schedule can be located on our web-site, noting the timeframes are indicative". The NPA understands timber bridge replacement cost to be approximately $950K Your Nelligen Progress Association Haven't driven on the Runnyford Road and crossed the bridge? This video by Col VanMan offers a nice insight to the experience.
