Motorists are advised work will continue on the $3.6 million upgrade of the Princes Highway and Durras Drive intersection following the recent rains.
Work involves building a new left turn deceleration lane for vehicles turning into Durras Drive to improve motorists’ safety.
Major work at the Benandarah intersection started in July last year to provide a clear distinction between southbound through traffic and turning traffic.
The road shoulders are also being widened, sight distances improved and guardrails installed to further improve safety.
Work stopped during the Christmas and New Year holidays to allow motorists to travel without delay.
Works will be carried out on weekdays and be carried out between 7am and 5pm until early May, weather permitting.
For the safety of workers and motorists, lane closures with alternating traffic flow and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours.
Motorists should allow an extra five minutes travel time.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while work is carried out.
