nbn becomes nbbn (national Batemans Bay network)

People in the Batemans Bay area living in the area of Denhams Beach, Sunshine Bay, Batehaven, Catalina, Surfside, and Batemans Bay itself, will soon have access to faster and more reliable internet service, with construction of the National Broadband Network (nbn) now underway.

The message for Batemans Bay residents is clear – superfast broadband is on its way.

The rollout is around 60% complete for Gilmore which is well advanced compared to the national average of one third complete. Almost all of the smaller towns and coastal hamlets in Gilmore will get the nbn either later this year or in the first half of next year.

The key message for Gilmore is that Labor has no credibility after leaving the nbn rollout in a mess in 2013.

Towns like Nowra and Kiama suffered a lot of disruption to homes, driveways, paths and businesses as a result of the failed Labor all-fibre rollout. It was not the roll out made in heaven.

The Coalition has fixed the mess and is now pushing ahead with a huge scale up that will deliver vital internet upgrades to every regional community. Most of Gilmore will have nbn access in 12 months or less.”

The nbn opens up a range of new opportunities for businesses, allows students to learn and engage with classmates in virtual classrooms, and makes it easier for residents in this region to stay in touch with family and friends online.”

Final network designs for Batemans Bay are now complete; meaning that over coming weeks local residents will see nbn subcontractors connecting the area with new high-speed broadband technology.

As nbn construction is completed over coming months, residents and businesses will be able to sign up to an nbn plan with their chosen retail service provider, and receive a new modem to enable high-speed broadband. A range of plans with various download quotas and speed tiers are available to suit consumer and business needs.
