Next Council meeting - a sh*tload to go through

Just imagine being a Councillor and having to take all this in for a meeting. Several Beaglers are describing it as a "sh*tload and are scratching their heads as to why a Council meeting couldn't go through on March 14th when there was a quorum whilst four Councillors attended a conference. Ours are mainly brand new Councillors and what they have to deal in this meeting comprises Flood studies, Planning Acts, Policies and Environmental Plans. There are issues of tenders, of waste, water, construction along with deputations and the issue of reviewing the General Manager. Way beyond the acumen of many. Hopefully our good councillors have the capacity to fully comprehend what is being put before them and debate and vote accordingly. "It is one thing to be briefed by Council staff and another to be sharp enough to try to work out what isn't written down in the report before it ends up biting off your balls because, at the end of the day, we cop it and they don't because they are teflon coated" - An ex Councillor All very complex issues and all being rushed through in this session because the Council meeting of March14th was cancelled as four Councillors attended a tourism conference. The agenda for next Tuesday's meeting alone is 195 pages. (Link here)
