Dear Beagle Editor, It has come to my attention that much has been written and discussed in the Beagle recently regarding the request to Council for a Dog Park in Batemans Bay. To date, no suitable location for the dog park has been found, But several locations have been suggested for further consideration by Council. One of these locations, which I believe would make an excellent choice, is a part of Corrigans Beach Reserve that has very little, if any, use at present. It would not affect the other uses of the reserve, Circus, Carnival, markets etc., if fact it would add the the amenities.
Above is a draft outline of the suggested area.
If this area was acceptable to Council then realistic cost estimates, and funding options could be investigated by Council. This site would also have a high visibility for visitors and tourists to the area as well conveniently serving the Batemans Bay community. A business opportunity also exists for a Cafe to serve coffee and snacks beside the car park and entrances to the small dog and all dogs parks. The Cafe could also sell gate tokens, if a small admission fee is envisaged for the dog parks. Sponsorship, advertising could also be used to fund this project. Making Batemans Bay a dog-friendly location and holiday destination will have flow on economic and social benefits for all the Eurobodalla Shire. Regards, Robert Loftus
