Weekend Results for 22-23 April 2017

Group 16 Rugby League

Moruya’s unbeaten run, stretching back to July 2015 finally ends in an away loss to Cooma. 37-22. In an at times fiery match, the big Cooma side out muscled the Sharks, who were always within striking distance but failed to capitalize on its opportunities.

The Sharks won the Reserve Grade and Ladies League Tag games (the girls still undefeated!) but the Under 18s faded in the last ten minutes to lose in a close one.

In other first grade games, Bombala continued its unbeaten season with a 28-26 win over Merimbula, Bega were too strong for Batemans Bay 50-16 and Eden edged out Narooma 28-24. AFL SCAFL Round 1 Narooma started its season with an impressive 83-43 win over an outgunned but gallant Bermagui. Pambula showed why it will be the favourites this year with a 118-23 rout of neighbours Merimbula, while Tathra was assertive in its 155-73 thumping of Eden. Meanwhile Batemans Bay Seahawks were impressive in their 21.20 146 to 5.7 37 drubbing of Googong Hawks in their ACT Div 3 game. Unfortunately their Div 5 team were undermanned and no match for Yass, losing 183-14. Rugby UnionBatemans Bay Boars found the Bungendore Mudchooks too hot in their clash, losing 68-17.
