Tony Backhouse & the Backroaders are coming to Moruya for a two-night residence at St Johns Anglican Church. Tony is a legend in the gospel a cappella tradition. He founded Australia’s foremost a cappella gospel choir Cafe to the Gate of Salvation in 1986. He also founded the Honeybees and has directed and sung with male a cappella group the Heavenly Light Quartet since 1996. In demand for his inspiring teaching style, Tony has run more than 2,000 vocal workshops throughout the world. His workshops, such as a tour through the black churches of America, or residencies in Fiji and Siena are legendary.
Tim Finn says he is quite simply the finest vocal arranger he knows and Sam Neill reckons he's a national treasure. They are both right!
Many of the people who have been singing with Tony for decades are touring country NSW as the The BackRoaders, a 55-peice choir. It’s all about sharing beautiful music on a tour that performs in smaller rural communities.
This will be a stunning night of gospel and soul and your $10 admission goes to the Benefit of SAGE FARMERS MARKET and the MORUYA PEACE PARK. Everyone’s a winner! It will be a gorgeous, inspiring night of gospel and soul.
See you there. Tickets at the door. St Johns Church - Moruya, Friday 12th May at 7pm and Saturday 13th May - Two Concerts at 4 pm & 7.30 pm. The show is approximately one hour long.
