Welcoming Cherie Potts as the Bay Tigers Open Women's Coach

Cherie supports the South Sydney Rabbitohs (BUT.... Given the ties her old man has with Lapa It will come as no surprise that She was brain washed as a kid - lol) Her first game of Rugby League was at the ripe old age of 13 in the Aboriginal KO open women's. There was no league competition on the coast so she started playing for Queanbeyan Blues when she was 17 and was lucky enough to be selected for the Australian Boomerangs (which was an Australian Aboriginal women's team) to play against New Zealand. Currently due to no local women's comps Cherie has only been able to play once a year in the NSW Annual Aboriginal Rugby League KO and has been lucky enough to win several titles with the Redfern All Blacks Women. Cherie explains, " It is a fantastic opportunity to finally have a women's league team on the coast. I'm sure all the other ladies on the team feel the same as I do in saying nothing gives me more honour to finally be able represent our own community & I feel privileged to be able to coach the Bay Tigers Open Women's team. "

The Batemans Bay Tigers Womens Rugby League are also welcoming Shane Chatfield Under 18s Coach. Shane played with the Batemans Bay Tigers since Juniors before moving away to Canberra were he played with Valley Dragons, Wests Rugby Union and attended Erindale Collage. He eventually came back home to Batemans Bay were he played in the seniors with the Tigers also with the boars Rugby Union. Before this Shane has been coaching the Junior Batemans Bay Tigers for the past 5 to 6 years from Under 7s to Under 10s. As you see Shane's favourite NRL Team is the St George Dragons. Shane is very approachable and is very passionate about what he does and is looking forward to building the profile of Women's Rugby League within the area.
