Hope House Soldiers On.

Community Life/Hope House the men’s shelter in Batemans Bay has received a timely boost from the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. Hope House has received $25,000 in the form of a Clubs Grant to assist in continuing to provide a vital service in Batemans Bay.

The Manager of Hope House Shirley Diskon says the grant will enable the organization to continue to provide, shelter, programs to assist with their rehabilitation into society such as mental health programs, alcohol and gambling addiction programs and assisting the men in obtaining outside accommodation and employment through existing agencies. Hope House also helps the men to establish and develop living skills, develop positive self esteem and avoid and resolve conflict.

Mrs Diskon said recently that she and the Community Life Board are working with the Member for Bega Andrew Constance and Eurobodalla Shire Mayor Liz Innes to ensure the viable future of Hope House. A meeting with the Family and Community Services Minister Pru Goward has been arranged for next month with Mrs Diskon and Community Life Chairman Dennis Hughes to represent Hope House at that face to face meeting in Sydney.
