Marine Rescue Batemans Bay boat crews undertake air drop recovery

Marine Rescue Batemans Bay boat crews and radio operators today assisted AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) with a test air drop of mass casualty life rafts. The life rafts were about 6m in diameter and were were dropped by Cobram Aviation Services about two kilometres off the Mosquito Bay Boat Ramp. The task set was for Marine Rescue Batemans Bay volunteers to search for the life rafts dropped from aircraft and then tow them back to shore. Marine Rescue vessels Batemans 30 and Batemans 21 were used in the exercise.
