Tuross Head Garden Group news

The Tuross Head Floral Art and Garden Group is flourishing and we had a great turnout for the May meeting at Kyla Hall to hear John Gillett give an entertaining and informative talk about Angel Flight, a charity that coordinates non-emergency flights to help country people with limited financial means to access transport to medical facilities. The flights are carried out by volunteer pilots, such as John, who use their own aircraft, as an example, to fly from Moruya to Bankstown airport in Sydney and return. The passengers are met in Sydney by volunteers who arrange their transport to the medical facility they need to visit in Sydney and their return to Bankstown airport to be flown home to Moruya.

According to the Angel Flight website (www.angelflight.org.au) they have conducted over 17,500 flights helping over 2,800 patients, as well as accompanying carers and family members.

The bloom of the month was won by Ann Pass and members tucked into a delicious afternoon tea.

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday 3 June at 2 p.m. at Kyla Hall where Fiona Hope, Natural Resources Officer with the Eurobodalla Shire Council will give a talk on flying foxes. Visitors are most welcome to attend. Enquiries to Barbara Crook on tel. 44736457.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
