Another busy month for the Narooma Camera Club.

As part of our 2017 schedule of field trips, a dozen members visited Aragunnu in the Mimosa Rocks National Park for a very pleasant day of photography, lunch and general socialising. The weather was kind and the late afternoon sun provided ideal light for photographing the rocks, bringing their textures and colours to life.

A couple of our members stayed overnight and photographed the sky. A superb example of the result is shown in Francis Keogh’s photograph below titled Starbright (below).

Our technical training night was held on 3 May. The original plan was to photograph the Milky Way, but the climatic conditions weren’t very favourable so this exercise has been postponed until later in the year. Instead, Colin Pass carried out further training on Adobe Photoshop CC which was somewhat less exciting than photographing the night sky, but nevertheless gave members a few new techniques to practice.

Wednesday 17 May was our monthly competition night and the set subject was “Silhouette”. Len Glasser was our scheduled judge for the evening, but unfortunately Len was unable to return from a business trip to the USA in time so the club members acted as judges for the evening. (Len will be judging our entries in the June competition). Members enjoyed the participation and, as the results show, their judging skills were finely tuned. There were a number of excellent entries and although only a selection of the gold and silver award winners are shown here, there were several more of the same high standard. Particular mention should be made regarding some of the members in our B division, which is mainly for beginners / inexperienced photographers, who produced some cracking pictures.

The competition results were:

Gold awards – Francis Keogh; Kevin Budds.
