Despite a particularly cool morning a good field of 60 players teed off for this morning’s Special Par event.
This a game unique to the Tuross Head Vets where scoring below handicap is rewarded with the possibility of multiple plus scores on a hole, and is a game generally favouring the higher handicap golfer. Results for the day were as follows: 1st: Ann Ware with a great score of +3. 2nd: Jennifer Grey on +2 on count back. 3rd: Noel Fletcher also on +2.

The Bradman’s award went to a new player, Leigh Edwards, who suffered from a miserly handicap handed out by the handicapper for Leigh's first game at Vets. The handicapper promises to do better next time Leigh! Nearest the Pins: 4th: Graham Pratt, who chipped in for a birdie from off the green. 6th: Tony Crook.Ladies 7th: Ann Ware.Men’s 7th: Michael Kermode. The Accuracy award was won by Frank Pomfret with a fine, long drive alongside the string line on the 5th hole. Next weeks game is a Single Stableford event with registration in the downstairs sports bar area from 7.45am and a shotgun start at 8.30am. Vets players are reminded that as a result of a majority vote last week, registration and shotgun start times will remain unchanged over the winter period and not be put back 30 minutes from next Wednesday as has occurred in previous years.
