Changed traffic conditions in Orient Street

Motorists in Orient Street Batemans Bay should look out for changed road conditions from this Friday when a new raised pedestrian crossing opens to traffic.

Eurobodalla Council is installing the new crossing as a safety measure to improve pedestrian visibility in the busy area.

Pedestrians will be able to use the new crossing, located near The Bakehouse, from late next week once construction is complete.

The existing pedestrian crossing near the Post Office will then be removed.

The new crossing is part of Council’s $1.6 million Batemans Bay CBD streetscaping project, which will see Orient and North Streets transformed with new areas for outdoor dining, footpath and road upgrades, more trees, new lighting and street furniture, increased parking, and upgrades to underground services.

Council advises the streetscaping project will move to the less showy work of upgrading the water main in Orient Street once the raised pedestrian crossing is finished.

The streetscaping project will be complete by September. Media Release
