Work started this week on the replacement of water mains in the residential area around Narooma flat.
Most of the work will take place on the nature strip or road shoulder, but Council says the work will cause some disturbance to driveways and landscaping. Council’s work crews will undertake restoration as construction proceeds.
The work involves digging a trench adjacent to the existing water main, laying new pipe and installing the residential service connections.
All efforts will be made to limit disturbance to residents, but there will be times when the water supply needs to be turned off to allow testing and commissioning of the new water main. This will be done at night whenever possible and affected residents will be notified by letter.
The water main renewals will take place on Burrawang Street, Graham Street, Field Street, Barker Parade,Lynch Street, Brice Street, Hyland Avenue, Riverside Drive and McMillan Road. Council has written to affected residents to explain the project.
Work will continue until December.
Council replaces approximately four kilometres of water mains each year to improve ongoing security of water supply to customers. Media Release
