Eurobodalla Boomerang Bags are up and running

Great news - Eurobodalla Boomerang Bags are now up and running. Congratulations to Libby and Anita for starting this great initiative. Boomerang Bags works to raise awareness about plastic pollution and foster sustainable behaviour through hands on community action. Boomerang Bags Eurobodalla aims to distribute bags throughout the shire. You can help by donating fabric and sewing bags at home or at one of the sewing bees. Moruya CWA will be holding a sewing bee in August at a date TBC. Bags are available now at IGA Tomakin and Southlands Fruit and Veg Moruya. You can 'like' Boomerang Bags Eurobodalla their new Facebook page too and keep up to date, offer to donate fabric or join a sewing bee. Please share this information with your friends in the Eurobodalla. It will be great to see lots of Boomerang Bags being used around our towns and villages

“I’ve got heaps of bags in the boot….” How to remember to actually use your Boomerang Bags!!! 1. BUDDY BAGS WITH WALLET You can’t shop without your wallet. Buddy your wallet bag with your Boomerang or other fabric bags. Even pack a couple of Boomerang Bags in your bag-with-the-wallet-in-it They squish up pretty well. 2. STAY WHERE I CAN SEE YOU As soon as you unpack the bags at home, leave them in a place where you cannot fail to see them next time you leave (eg on the door handle). When you leave the house, take the bags with you. If you are using a car, put them in the front where you see them all the time. They might even annoy you. Putting bags in the boot is a sure way to forget them. 3. THE STICK If you have forgotten your bags, push your trolley full of unbagged groceries to the car. Fill your boot up with unbagged groceries, or stand in the car park and put them into the bags you left in the boot. I guarantee you will only do this once and are more likely to remember your bags next time!! 4. ANOTHER STICK If you get half way to the shops and remember the bags are still in the boot, turn around, go back to the car and get your bags. You will add 10 minutes to your shopping trip so I guarantee you will only do this once as well. 5. THE CARROT Remember, 1 Boomerang Bag can replace around 700 plastic bags. 6. A BUNCH OF CARROTS Enjoy using your Boomerang Bag. They’re pretty and strong and serving a really great purpose. Congratulations on being part of the solution. 7. NOT AN OPTION The most effective thing, though, is to have a strong adverse reaction to using plastic bags (not like an allergy but pretty close). Be really clear that you cannot use plastic bags – they are not a feasible option. Recall the damage they do to our planet. Don’t allow yourself to justify their use. Make your fabric bags as convenient as the plastic ones by using these strategies to change the plastic bag habit.
