Batemans Bay sailing forum September 16th

Batemans Bay Sailing Club invite interested members of the community to attending a fourm at the Catalina Club at 10 am on Saturday 16 September to help the Batemans Bay Sailing Club increase its contribution to enjoyable sailing in the Bay and region where they have been active in promoting sailing for more than 40 years.

In its current structure the club is focused on competitive keel boat and trailer yacht sailing within the Clyde River Estuary and coastal events both north and south of the Bay. The club also manages off the beach sailing at the Bay and at Coila Lake, Tuross Head and is is very active with events once per fortnight in most months of the year.

They recognise that strict competitive sailing is not for everyone but they believe there is scope to combine competitive sailing with a more relaxed enjoyment of sailing in the company of other yachts.

The most used yachts in the Marina and on moorings in the river are those that sail with the club and the club would love to increase their numbers to spread the enjoyment of sailing wider and perhaps increase their influence on the ongoing improvement of sailing infrastructure in the Bay.

They extend an invitation to come to an open forum at which they would appreciate hearing your views on how the club could better meet your objectives for recreational sailing and refocus the club to meet the needs of regional sailing at Batemans Bay..

The forum will be held at the Catalina Club at 10 am on Saturday 16 September. Representatives from the Department of NSW Department of Industry - Lands & Forestry and MarProp will also attend to provide a briefing and discussion about the future of dredging the bar and ongoing development of the Marina.

They hope to see you at the forum, but understand if you can't make it inviting the community to feel free to phone or email the club to discuss any suggestions they may have that would make a sailing club more useful to them.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
