Pastel On Canvas/Mixed Media Workshop August 26th, 2017


Since the 3rd of June the Pastel Society has held a series of beginner’s workshop which have proven popular and cost effective. The talented tutors have taught a variety of subjects and styles and classes have been mostly booked out in advance. With such success the participants have shown enormous enthusiasm in wishing to continue these learning sessions.

In view of the popularity of these sessions, the Society have made the decision to repeat a couple of sessions but only one is now available with some vacancies still available. Pastel on Canvas by Nina Poulton will be held this coming Saturday August 26th at the Batemans Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, George Bass Drive, Malua Bay commencing 9.30am for 10 am start until 12.30pm

As class sizes are limited to no more than 8. Interested persons should contact Lyn Woolridge on 44713056 or email Lyn at lw17@bigpond.com. All details can be found on the Sth Coast Pastel Society website and cost of class is $25 per person. Payment of $25 can be made directly to the Society bank account details of which will be supplied upon registration.

This course introduces beginners to techniques in applying pastel in a modern fauvism style to a canvas board or other surface, by using underpainting or other media and finishing with a fixative. All materials are supplied and all participants need to bring is an apron/wear old clothes, enthusiasm and willingness to experiment.

Pastel artists are also reminded that our Call for Entries is now open for the Sth Coast Pastel Society National Open Pastel Exhibition which will be held next April. Entries and full details can be found & downloaded on the Society website. This will be the 3rd open pastel only works exhibition the Society has run.
