Expect Delays After Major Incident On Hume Highway At Berrima

South Coast travellers heading north or home via the Hume Highway can expect delays after major incident on Hume Highway at Berrima

A contra flow is in place on the Hume Motorway in Berrima after a truck incident and fire at Wingecarribee Bridge.

A contraflow is in place on the southbound carriageway with one lane open in each direction under traffic control and a reduced speed limit. Northbound detours have been removed.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow about 15 minutes extra travel time.

There has been extensive damage to the northbound bridge. The northbound bridge will remain closed at least until Friday midday to allow for inspections to be carried out.

Emergency services and traffic crews remain on site.

Bridge assessments will be carried out once inspectors can safely go onsite. The community will be updated about the outcome of assessments as soon as more information is available.

Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience.
