Native Orchid Show @ Batemans Bay Soldiers Club Oct 20th and 21st

.

The Batemans Bay Orchid and Foliage Society will be holding their Native Show on Friday 20th and Saturday 21th October at the Soldiers Club, Beach Road Batemans Bay. It is open from 10am until 6pm on Friday and Saturday 10am until presentation of championship ribbons, which starts at 3pm. Entry to the Show is free. There is a lucky door prize of an orchid plant and a multiple draw raffle.

This is the final Show for the Club this year. There will be plants on the show benches that will enable you to marvel at the flowers of these unique plants that come in all colours, shapes and sizes. There are over 500 genre of orchids known, but this display will be mainly of native orchids like the Sarcochilus. At this show last year, there were over 180 plants on the benches. It was a beautiful display.

There will be plants for sale and a potting demonstration at 11am and 1pm each day.

Our members are happy to talk to you about your orchids if you bring them along, however, please make sure they are pest free or as a community member did last show, take photos and we can look at them and offer suggestions.

The Batemans Bay Orchid and Foliage Society meets on the first Monday of each month except January at the Soldiers Club. Members wishing to bench plants may do so from 6.30pm with members voting on the best plants commencing at 7pm. The general meeting starts at 7.30pm. There is a guest speaker most months. The topics are dependent on the interest of the speaker. Visitors are always welcome.
