Dear Beagle. We all know the bridge is at the end of it's life, but these lengthy breakdowns could end up COSTING A LIFE. Imagine the bridge getting stuck even just once a year.....and at the same time, there is a major traffic accident on the Kings Highway, a small child is bitten by a brown snake at Durras, a swimmer almost drowns at Maloneys, or someone has a heart attack at Long Beach. If the ambulance cannot get to people in trouble ASAP, someone WILL die or have permanent disabilities. This is not about being inconvenient - or rules that say the Bridge must be opened. Exemptions CAN happen as Andrew Constance MP demonstrated last year. This current situation is imminently life threatening and it will continue to be until we have a new bridge. The RMS is not responding to emails or phone calls on this - nobody is taking responsibility for it. We have two choices here .....either put a permanent ambulance on the northern side of the bridge, or shut the bridge until we have a new one! Beagle - can you bring any attention to this matter? Councillors are buck passing pointing to the RMS but just WHO is responsible for making sure the people of the Eurobodalla are safe when travelling or living on the north of the bridge?
