Tenders now being called for the new regional gallery

Tenders are now invited for the extension to the Moruya Library and construction of the attached Arts and Community facilities that will provide a new regional gallery.

The tender involves the following works:

  • Construction of new gallery space and plant room, new kitchen and amenities

  • Construction of a new deck

  • Extension to the existing library facilities including the partial demolition of the existing southern wall to the Library (constructed in 1998)

  • Alterations to specific portions of the existing occupied Library Building

The new spaces will feature videoconferencing facilities, sound-rated moveable walls for flexible use of the floor space, temperature control to meet professional standards for exhibitions, kitchen facilities and additional parking.

This new facility will have capacity to host upwards of 80 exhibitions, 300 group workshops, and around 50 smaller meetings each year.

The project will be implemented in three stages. Once stage one is underway, Council will pursue further funding for subsequent stages of development, which include practical art spaces for workshops, small performances and events.
