The South Coast Nationals event, in it's 24th year, will be held on the 25th & 26th November 2017 at Moruya High School and supports the Moruya High School & many other charities & worthy causes. The event attracts Millions of dollars’ worth of vehicles from all over Australia with some of the best vehicles in Australia that would not normally attend an outdoor event. Regular exhibits comprise Summernats Top Ten vehicles and Elite MotorEx award winners
The event consist of a Show n Shine for cars, bikes & trucks, Audio Sound Off & DB Comp, Dyno Comp by Dyno Dynamics, Rocker Cover Racing, heaps of traders & displays, heaps for the kids. Saturday night at the Moruya Golf Club we have a Charity auction & dinner followed by an award presentation & band.
Organisers also hold an Automotive Careers & Trade Expo providing students with a unique opportunity to see the diverse range of trades & careers that make up the automotive industry as well as being able to ask questions from people in those trades or careers. Students have the opportunity to find out how to get into the trade or career as well as the training that is required. Many entrants who are in the trade also often share valuable advice on career & trade paths to students. Being able to see the results of some of the trades & get hands on with others (Like Air Brushing) is a great opportunity.
The event announcer (Pinky) is one of the most well-known announcers of automotive events keeping the audience informed during the day via the PA system so that you don't miss a thing.
This year is shaping up to be a huge event that also celebrates 50 years of Drag Racing in Australia.
There will be a selection of drag cars on show this year giving patrons a great chance to get a close up look at the cars, talk to the drivers & some of the team members. Some of the cars attending the event are record holders.
The vehicle below has not been seen for many years, a nostalgic black 1939 Plymouth Drag Car that is as much show as it is go. Owned by legend Custom Car & Hot Rod Builder Mario Colalillo.
The event is an alcohol free family friendly event & it is quite unique in that it brings together all forms of motoring enthusiasts it’s a great atmosphere. There are people with Drag Cars mixing with people who have concourse cars, Street Machines, bikes & trucks etc & everyone gets along. The event is one of the biggest events held in the shire attracting many visitors providing a massive financial injection into the local economy.
