Many in the Eurobodalla will immediately recognise the images of internationally applauded underwater photographer Philip Thurston. His incredible underwater photos of seals at play around the waters of Montague Island have regularly featured as the front covers of the Eurobodalla Tourism annual tourist guide and Holiday Planner and appear once again this year, both on the cover, and as part of the wider Eurobodalla Tourism promotion of the region.

2017 was an amazing year for Philip, full of adventure and surprises He told his many followers around the planet, via his Instagram account "I’m stoked to finish it off with a 12 page portfolio in the new @whitehorsesmag entitled “Beneath the Surface”. Being predominately a ‘Surf Photographer’, this spread is special to me, as only a few pictures are waves, which highlights the expansion of my portfolio in recent years from the curiosity I have to see the beauty in all things! "Shooting waves is, and I think always will be, my favourite subject, but as I grow and develop a greater understanding of life, I’ve found myself pointing my camera at so many different things out in the wild!
