U3A Batemans Bay Registration Day Thur 25th January

U3A Batemans Bay has been providing courses and social activities for the over 50s in the Eurobodalla Shire for the past 20 years. It is a unique organization in that every person involved ― including the committee and tutors ― is a volunteer.

Tutors are members who offer their time, knowledge and interests to others.

The annual membership fee (currently $40), entitles participants to be involved in as many different courses as desired.

There are more than 60 different activities offered in the first semester, held at a variety of venues throughout the shire. Some of the many activities enjoyed by U3A participants are classified under the broad headings of History and Culture; Science; Literary Activities; Languages; Arts and Crafts; Recreational Activities; Physical Activities; and General Interest. Currently on offer are:

  • five different levels of learning French, ranging from Absolute Beginners French to readings and discussions in a French Book Club;

  • two levels of Mastering Italian;

  • learning Chinese;

  • 10 Book Groups with an amazing variation of books to be discussed;

  • seven Wine Appreciation Groups;

  • a Saturday Talks program where invited guests offer presentations on various topics;

  • Kaleidoscope, a kaleidoscope of topics, this semester featuring a Science Taster, which will be held at the Moruya Golf Club in an effort to provide more opportunities closer to home for members from the southern part of the shire:

Details can be found at http://bbay.u3anet.org.au or in the printed program

Why not join this active array of community activities and events ― one or many of which will surely be of interest.

To do this, visit Registration Day at the Batemans Bay Community Centre on Thursday 25 January 2018 from 9:30 am to 12 noon. This is a great event where some of the 600 Batemans Bay and beyond members come to renew their membership (if they haven’t done it online), talk to tutors, enroll in classes and chat with friends ― all while they are enjoying a sumptuous morning tea.

For anyone who is interested in finding out more about U3A courses, there is a dedicated New Members Room where you can obtain information and join on the day. You are very welcome to look around and talk to the tutors about the various activities on offer before joining. As well as being a terrific social event, Registration Day offers everyone the best opportunity to enroll in the courses they want.

Members can renew their membership online before Registration Day at: http://bbay.u3anet.org.au Becoming a member for the first time? click 'Join U3A' and follow the instructions provided.

Looking forward to seeing members new and old.

Online Course enrolments will be available from 1 February 2018.
