Narooma ducks go for earlier launch

Coordinator of Narooma Rotary’s Australia Day Duck Race John Doyle has moved the race to an earlier time to take better advantage of the tides.

He said the 1,000 ducks will be dropped off Narooma Bridge at about 9.15am on Friday the 26th instead of the previously advertised time of 10am.

All tickets have now been sold.

‘We’re hoping for perfect weather, good crowds and a quick race downstream to the Apex Park boat ramp,’ he said.

"The first duck across the finishing line wins $1,000. The last duck wins $100.

"Proceeds will go towards Australian Rotary Health and the Club’s Tertiary Scholarship fund for students from Narooma High.

"Donations will also be made to Narooma Surf Club in appreciation of their assistance and to Bermagui CRABS (Cancer Research Advocate Bikers) who lend us the ducks."
