Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels are most fortunate to have a bus to assist with its Out and About clients.
“The bus was purchased through various Grants,” said Manager Alan Russell. “We were most grateful for the support that these organisations showed towards Meals on Wheels.”
Four days a week the bus collects Out and About clients from around the Shire. The clients attend the various programmes run at the Out and About Centre in Heradale Parade, Batemans Bay.
These programmes assist the older and frail clients to get to the centre so to share in a variety of activities including Lunch About each Tuesday.
The bus is back to work after having signwriting completed. This work recognises the generosity of the local Clubs through the Clubs Grants scheme which operate throughout the Shire.
Club Narooma, The Batemans Bay Soldiers Club and Catalina Country Club were most generous in the support of our work, and we are most grateful, said Mr Russell.
Community Underwriting gave generously and we have also had wonderful support from a number of our members who donated annually toward our campaign. Their support has been quietly given but very much appreciated.
"Meals on Wheels has been servicing clients throughout New South Wales for over 60 years. But it is ‘More than just a meal’ in our Shire."
The Social Support offered to the older people allows people to get out of their homes to meet others, to share in fun activities as well as going to for lunch. This group support is very popular as is the individual support which allows for volunteers to assist with shopping, medical and other appointments, and some gardening.
The community are invited to contact 44744464 should they wish to join any of these programmes.
