With planning well underway for the 2018 Sculpture Bermagui exhibition, the lineup of exhibitors is getting more and more exciting, with entries from as far afield as Thailand and works being especially created for the Bermagui exhibition.
Multi-disciplinary artist, Giles Ryder, who practices in Thailand and Cambodia will be exhibiting “Golden Space Doughnut”, a sculpture created from Perspex, mixed media and enamel. Highlighting the artist’s creative view of the world, it will be one of the many highlights of this year’s Sculpture Bermagui.
Created especially for Sculpture Bermagui, John Blay, Amanda Stuart and Jane Ulman’s work “Les St Hill and the Tin Canoe”, comes to Bermagui after being shown at Sculpture by the Sea in Sydney to great acclaim.
With over 110 sculptures being shown on Dickinson Point Headland and in the Bermagui Community Centre, in the largest ever Sculpture Bermagui, the 2018 exhibition is all set to be a record-breaker. Coinciding with the Bermagui Seaside Fair and with the long weekend in ACT and Victoria, the 2018 Sculpture Bermagui is just one more reason to visit the wonderful unspoilt Sapphire Coast.
Businesses in the region are showing great support for what is an important part of the regional calendar, with Bermagui Country Club becoming one of a new group of supporters and sponsors.
Chairman of the Sculpture Bermagui organising committee, Paul Payten said “Sculpture Bermagui is not only a landmark arts exhibition, but is an important boost to the local economy, and thankfully our local business are seeing the importance of this and other artistic endeavours in the area”.
The exhibition opens with a cocktail party and prize announcements on Friday 9 March, and continues through the next ten days with torchlight sculpture tours around the headland, an artists’ symposium, musical entertainment and ends on Sunday 18 March with a closing ceremony with works featuring fire becoming more numerous and popular, lighting up the headland.
