Member for Bega Andrew Constance today announced that the Granite Town Committee along with the Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber will benefit from $40,000 in NSW Government funding under the 2018 Flagship and Incubator Event Funds, aimed at attracting more visitors to experience regional NSW.
Mr Constance said the Fund, managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, provides grants to support marketing activities that drive overnight visitation.
“The Incubator fund assists regional events in their infancy to grow attendance and boost the local visitor economy.
“I am pleased to announce that the Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber have again been successful in attracting Incubator funding of $20,000 for the Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge to be held 27-28 April,” said Mr Constance.
“The Granite Town Committee will also receive $20,000 under the Flagship Fund and will support the marketing of the Granite Town Festival to be held in Moruya later this year.
“We have some amazing festivals and events happening right across our region, this funding will go a long way to promoting what we have to offer on the beautiful South Coast.
“We look forward to welcoming many more visitors as a result of these exciting events, helping to further position our region as a must-see destination in NSW.”
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the 2018 Flagship and Incubator Event Program features events that reflect the unique character, culture and attributes of their local community.
“We know that support for events helps to promote our State’s fantastic destinations while putting more heads on beds, diners in our restaurants and shoppers in our boutiques. I look forward to welcoming more visitors to our regions for this fantastic event program,” Mr Marshall said.
This Event Funding also offers a triennial grant of $27,500 each year for three years and is part of the expanded Regional Flagship Events Program of which the Eurobodalla River of Arts and the Narooma Oyster Festival received in 2017,” said Mr Constance. Media Release
