My name is Shirley Noy and I live in Broulee I addressing the Council today as a concerned resident on behalf of the Broulee community who oppose the sale and development of the block of land -- Lot 74 DP - 776541 9 Moir Place, Broulee
We purchased our extra parcel of land in 18 Pacific Street, Broulee in 1987 from Ian Fraser (now deceased). At that time we were assured by Ian that the land would be used for the community as he had to gift the land to the Eurobodalla Shire for recreation purposes as part of his development of that area. For thirty years Eurobodalla Shire have never maintained the land in question. This has been done by community minded locals who have considered it their duty and who take great pride in their community. This walkway is used by many people including the local schools walking to the beach for sports or school excursions, parents taking their children to the local schools and then locals use it as a shortcut to the beach. With the proposed development of Train Street, the area will require more clear space for community use. If this land is to be developed, allowing for sewer setbacks, walkway and boundary setbacks it would appear that there would be little room to establish a home.
