International Women's Day event ‘Aiding Families on Nauru’ raises $3300

Over 100 women of the Eurobodalla kicked up their heels at the Broulee Surfers Surf Lifesaving Club on International Women’s Day on Wednesday March 8th raising a remarkable $3300

The event ‘Aiding Families on Nauru’ featured an auction of three stunning pieces by sculpture Nick Hopkins. Event organizer Barb Lewis told The Beagle "The hilarious comedian Vicki Habberly, now locally based, entertained us with a not so serious Trivia night which included having to play musical chairs, scissors, paper rock, weird yoga poses etc. All in all a fantastic very funny night. "Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves." Barbara said "Magella Blinksell gave a talk about the plight of the women and children on Nauru and the high incidence of sexual assault and unwanted pregnancies." The funds raised will assist in offering much needed assistance to women and girls in offshore detention.
