Batemans Bay High School represented at ASEAN-Australia Special Summit

As part of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit being hosted in Sydney this week, the ASEAN-Australia Council at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is supporting 60 students across Australia to participate in a tailored ASEAN-Australia Youth Forum delivered by the Asia Education Foundation. One of the 11 schools selected to participate, is Batemans Bay High School

Distinguished guest speakers in attendance, including Dr Imran Lum Associate Director, Islamic Capital Market National Australia Bank and high-level representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will be leading students through a student-centered program, where delegates are asked to represent and simulate a meeting between the leaders of Australia and the member nations of ASEAN. Throughout the summit delegates have the opportunity to present their countries’ position on some of the issues they, as nations and as a community, are facing; and discuss and propose solutions to these issues. The aim for students will be to reach mutually agreeable solutions as delegates, through negotiation and consensus building, which will be captured in a final document.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
