EuroSCUG Computer Club AGM

A change of guard followed EuroSCUG’s recent AGM. In accordance with the constitution, the previous hardworking President Diane Hay, Secretary Ellen Williams, and Treasurer BobTomkins had to make way for some new talent.

Members thanked these three for their wonderful service, and welcomed the new Committee, including President Amanda Annabel, Vice-President Mike Hitchcock, Secretary Jan Fazakerley , Treasurer Peter Watson, and 10 other Committee members.

After morning tea, several members gave presentations with the theme “Get Online and Save Heaps”. Charmaine Fripp’s presentation, “Woolworths and Coles Online,” took the audience through the process from the shopping list through ordering and paying to pickup or delivery.

Dianne Grigson’s presentation, “Be Your Own Travel Agent”, demonstrated how to select and book the best flights, accommodation, and car hire. She also covered things to watch for, such as booking fees, credit card fees, and connection times (to avoid long waits at airports).

“Finding an Appropriate Present” was David Num’s chosen topic. He recommended some Daily Deal sites, using Google shopping tag, and some shopping comparison sites. He then suggested useful searching tips on using browsers more effectively eg refining the search to things like presents for women/men/children.

EuroSCUG will hold an Open Day during Seniors Week, on Wednesday 4th April, at Moruya Golf Club. Visitors are most welcome to attend, meet members over a cuppa, and watch demonstrations of some of the various activities members enjoy at meetings. A Help Desk to solve both hardware and software problems will also be available on the day.

EuroSCUG meets at 10am on the first Wednesday of the month at Moruya Golf Club, and local area groups meet regularly in Batemans Bay, Moruya, Tuross Head and Narooma. Monthly tablet groups (iPad and Android) are also held.
