The annual Batemans Bay Rugby Union 15-a-side knockout competition will be held this Saturday 17th March 2018 at Hanging Rock Rugby Oval, Batemans Bay.
The knock out has now been run successfully for over 30 years with good support continuing from throughout ACT, Monaro districts and Illawarra. This year the Boars committee decided to limit invitations to allow ease of running the day so this year only 8 teams will compete on the day.
Games will commence at 11.00am with Braidwood playing local team Batemans Bay “Boars” in the first game of the day. All eight teams competing in this year’s knockout are expected to be of similar playing strength with some great Rugby games guaranteed. Initial games have teams playing Clubs outside their normal Club competition, however as the day progresses there will be chance for old rivals to match up.
Batemans Bay has been training since beginning of February and, although a number of new players have arrived they have also reported a number of long term members still missing. The Club has stated that this Saturday any new players are welcome to come along , meet the Coach and players and even register to have a run with the team.

Games are played in two x 15 minutes halves during the elimination games. Little time is allowed between kick off with a new game matching up every 40 minutes. No kicking for goals (tries or penalties) is allowed until the final. The final game to determine the 2018 tournament winner will be kick off at approx. 3.00 pm.
The knock out is mainly used as trial games by most teams competing. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of two games on the day, however the eventual winners will play three games on the day.
Two fields will be used throughout the day. The Rugby Union field being the main ground with support games played on the Soccer fields.
Full canteen facilities will be operating on the day with plenty of great Rugby to be witnessed with entry to the grounds free
