WORK on Moruya Memorial Hall is going well, vice president Kevin Setter told the March meeting of Moruya RSL Sub-branch on Tuesday. It was the second monthly meeting held in Moruya CWA Rooms because of the work going on at the Hall, mainly replacing the corrugated asbestos roof, with Mr Setter in the chair in the absence of president Harold Barkley due to illness and an accident. “The new roof looks very good,” one member commented. Mr Setter said the Memorial Hall would be available for the usual Anzac Day events and further work would be decided after then. In answer to a question from the floor, he said that the Bergalia Anzac Day ceremony would be held. Last year about 200 people attended the Bergalia service. However, the meeting was told, there would be no sales of Anzac Day badges this year. “We would be lucky to be able to do the usual fund-raising for Memorial Day,” he added. RSL Sub-branches were not able to sell poppies last year due to legal concerns raised during probes into alleged activities of some Sydney members.
