The Out and About program has been providing social support to the aged, and people living with a disability in the Eurobodalla Shire for more than 20 years.
Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels runs the program through their “Out and About” centre in Batemans Bay with weekly activities and events that encourage social interaction and help fight social isolation to people living alone.

Meals on Wheels Manager Alan Russell says, “Out and About makes a big difference in the lives of people, it’s a valuable service that provides an opportunity for people to participate in social activities with others.
“Carers also appreciate the program as it gives them a break and supports them in their critical caring role."
The program has regular weekly activities including quizzes, craft, morning teas, special events, and shopping days. Transport can also be provided to and from the centre as well as day trips exploring the local area.
Out and About is for people of all back grounds and supports healthy ageing.
There will be an open day at the centre where carers and those who are interested in finding out more about the program for themselves are invited to come and experience what goes on.
"A lot of people don’t realise this service exists, so this is a great opportunity to see what we do and how we can help,” Mr Russell says.
“Everyone knows we deliver meals, but we provide more than just a meal and we are keen to support the needs of people in our local community.”
The Open Day is being held on Thursday, 12 April at the Out and About Cottage on the corner of Heraldale and Bavarde Avenues Batemans Bay.
The day starts with morning tea at 10am and concludes after lunch and activities at 2pm. Everyone is welcome and transport can also be arranged to and from the event. For more information and to RSVP call Jann or Keith on 4472 4240 or outandabout@eurobodallamealsonwheels.com.au
