Proposed new dog maps for Eurobodalla

Council is reviewing its Companion Animal Management Plan 2015-19, which details on and off-leash, timeshare and prohibited dog arrangements across Eurobodalla.

For the past few months they’ve been working behind the scenes with a group of experts and community representatives on the review. Council is now seeking the wider community’s feedback on proposed changes to Eurobodalla dog exercise areas and invites residents to have their say.

What is proposed

Council has developed new maps for Council-managed beaches, and some reserves, depicting dog exercise and prohibited dog areas to make it easy for residents to see what is proposed. The changes aim to reduce confusing timeshare arrangements where possible and balance the provision of off-leash and prohibited dog areas.

The maps also introduce a simple colour-coded traffic light system that has been adopted successfully by Wollongong and Shoalhaven City Councils. an example for Tuross Head is below: (Each of the other areas of the shire can be seen in their own proposed maps HERE)

In addition to the new maps, Council is also interested in residents’ thoughts on how responsible pet ownership can be improved, including environmentally-responsible ways of managing dog faeces. Council will be holding drop-in sessions throughout April where people can view the dog exercise area maps and provide their feedback. Dates, locations and times can be found HERE. Residents can also complete an online survey during April, fill in the online feedback form, or simply write a letter or email detailing their thoughts. Start the survey. Council will use the community’s feedback to refine the draft plan before it is presented to councillors and publicly exhibited for final comment later this year.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
