Tuross Head bowlers will have a representative at the Commonwealth Games! Joel Hilliard has been chosen by Bowls Australia to be a member of the team of umpires for the Games Joel has been working towards his qualification as an Internationally accredited umpire for some years and his appointment is a reward for his efforts. Like all sporting contests, Bowls requires independent umpires to enforce the laws of the game. More importantly they are called upon to determine close ‘measures’. Joel will not only have the honour of being an umpire in at least two games – he knows he has been appointed to a NZ and Canada match – he will also have the opportunity to watch other matches in the Games. Well done, Joel!
