ESC are excited to announce the launching of a new perennial award, the Eurobodalla Shire Council Local Hero Award.
"We want to recognise residents who make outstanding contributions to our community; people who give up their own time for the benefit of others and for our community as a whole." Your local hero or volunteer may have provided outstanding service in any field; for example news, sports, community service, health, education, arts, the environment. They may have excelled in quality, quantity or value of service to the community or they may be responsible for individual acts of compassion, generosity, bravery, ingenuity, or professional accomplishments. Nominations will close on 11 May 2018 at 4pm. "Three finalists will be selected and invited to attend a presentation ceremony in the Council Chambers where the winner will be announced. The ceremony will take place on 24 May 2018 during National Volunteers Week.
Council have also invited respective organisations, committees & community groups to consider and put forward potential nominees. Eligibility Nominees must be a resident of the Eurobodalla Shire Nominations must include a second nominator Individuals cannot nominate themselves This award is for individuals. Clubs, associations or any other organisations cannot be nominated How to enter Print out and complete the Nomination Form (504KB) here or from the front counter of our main administration building in Moruya and at each of Council's libraries Attach a photograph of the Nominee, a digital image is preferred which can be emailed along with a scanned PDF of the completed nomination form (please make sure you have the nominee’s permission for their image to be used in any related Local Hero Award publicity) Include any additional information (maximum 10 Pages) or documentation that supports the nomination Suggestions for inclusion in your nomination: Describe the nominee and why you believe they should be considered for the Local Hero Award How has the nominee been an inspirational role model for our community? How many years’ service have they provided? How many local organisations have they served with/supported? The number of voluntary hours worked The benefit to the community from the nominee’s service or contribution Examples of how the nominee has gone “above and beyond” Other outstanding achievements by the nominee Other recognition of the nominee’s contribution or work, including publicity Whether the nominee worked as part of a team and their role within the team Whether the nominee has had assistance from council, government or other grants Whether the nominee has had to overcome any particular difficulties or hurdles Who has benefited most from the work
