Café taking off at Moruya Airport

There's a new way to fuel your next adventure from Moruya Airport.

Moruya Sky Café now offers quality coffee and treats from within the revamped airport terminal.

The $320,000 upgrade, completed last year, included new and increased seating, an additional check-in space, accessible toilet and a designated café space.

Run by Davide Pergola, who owns the popular Venetian Cafe in Batemans Bay, Moruya Sky Café offers award-winning locally-roasted coffee during peak airport times.

As well as caffeinating commuters enroute to faraway places, the café also services campers at the North Head Campground, selling milk, newspapers and magazines.

Council’s Divisional Manager Property and Commercial Services Andrew Greenway hopes bike riders will also take advantage of the café now they can cycle on a dedicated off-road pathway from Broulee to the airport.

He said airport patronage continued to grow, with passenger numbers up 32 per cent in March compared to the same month the previous year.

“We’re lucky to have attracted a café of this calibre to serve great coffee to our growing number of passengers,” he said.

“With $118 fares to and from Sydney available on a dedicated Moruya-Sydney route, and now a wonderful café, there’s never been a better time to fly to and from Moruya. Check out www.rex.com.au – you should find those cheap flights available most days, including tomorrow.”

The Moruya Sky Café is currently open 6.15am to 10.15am Monday to Saturday, with extended opening hours during summer. They are currently offering a half-price coffee to those who have liked and shared their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/moruyaskycafe until 1 June.
