Southern NSW Local Health District have conducted a series of Community Consultation Sessions across the Shire Today's session in Batemans Bay was well attended. Very informative session this morning that might appear to be a box ticking exercise. Eurobodalla Health with two hospitals Moruya and Batemans Bay apparently report to South East Health Care who reports to Government. However, the session was well presented and answered lots of questions, except for one which was in relation to Batemans Bay hospital’s future and where a new bigger and better hospital might be located.
MBRA was thanked by Fiona Phillips, Labor candidate for Gilmore, ESC Clr Maureen Nathan and Lisa Kennedy, Cluster General Manager at Health District for circulating and informing the community about the presentation. There were 35+ attendees. We understand that there were 5 attendees at the Narooma session the day before.
Projection and requirements for health services and better health care in Eurobodalla were for the period 2028 and beyond, ten years from now. A statement was made by an attendee that the project was fine for 2028 but we are all concerned about the next 10 years with the diminution of services especially at Batemans Bay hospital.
The principals espoused in providing a future road map for improved facilities was welcomed by all. There will be future community consultations over the next few stages. We should all make sure that we attend all of these meetings. Your health is extremely important. Report by Ian Hardy of the Maloneys Beach Residents Association
